Calgary West Soccer Centre Exceeds Industry Safety Standards.

As a result of the second collapse of the Subway Soccer Bubble, users of both soccer facilities are inquiring as to the safety of the Calgary West facility. As in the first instance, we worked, in conjunction with Subway staff, to identify primary structural/design factors which contributed to both collapses. We then reviewed the design and construction of the Calgary West structure to see if similar conditions existed there. We are pleased to note that none of the contributing structural/design factors identified in the Subway collapses are present in the Calgary West facility. This is primarily due to the utilization of a different manufacturer and foundation design at Calgary West. When the final engineering report is available on the Subway collapse, this process will be repeated to re- confirm our conclusions. As always, our safety, operating and maintenance procedures meet and in many cases exceed industry standards to ensure the safety of our users.
